Sequitur Winery awarded Architect’s Newspaper Best of Design Award in Commercial Hospitality
We’re thrilled to announce that Sequitur Winery Tasting Room was awarded a prestigious Best of Design award for Commercial Hospitality from the Architect’s Newspaper.
Michael Hsu noted, “The connection between the exterior and interior was very seamlessly accomplished, but I found the interior particularly welcoming—a spot where you would want to linger.”
Sequitur Winery wins Honor Award at Oregon AIA gala
An esteemed jury of Stephen Mueller, Brett Randall Jones, Kate Michaud, Joseph King and led by Jaime Torres Carmona recognized the project with the program’s highest honor. Saying of the project:
“The preservation and reuse of this farm campus into a new winery is a masterful composition. The siting of each new and reused element and intricate interventions within each corner of the facility are reflective of the mindfulness of the architects. The Sequitur Winery is a great symbol of meaningful adaptive reuse-- recognizing the past and looking forward to the future. The silo stair, roof and window details-- flawless.”

Gradient House and Studio was recently featured in the Vol. 3, 2023 edition of Residential Design Magazine Awards Issue. The feature focuses on the project’s Honor Award for the integration of materiality, light and site elements saying that ‘it did a nice job of pulling in all the high light from the courtyard so it didn’t disrupt the scale of the street’ and agreeing that the treatment of light and materials ‘all works together’.

Tonal House completes
Built with the experimental and sustainable Faswall block, a first for L,BA, the Tonal House completed this April. An exercise in restraint, this project uses alternating roof monitors to pull daylight through multilevel stair halls allowing light and shadow to play off the reduced material palette of white plaster, oak and stainless steel.

4015 House and Studio
As a multi-phased project, Observation Studio began with an ambitious renovation of the existing mid-century house and subsequently designed a detached studio building for a Creative Director and his family. A holistic landscape design by Bothwell Studio compliments and amplifies the spaces between these buildings. The landscape is continuing to establish and we very much look forward to sharing more images of this beautiful project.
Gradient House and Studio wins Honor Award at the Oregon AIA gala
An esteemed jury of Hana Kassam, Vivian Lee and led by Suchi Reddy recognized the project with the program’s highest honor, the only residence to be recognized. Saying of the project:
‘With the careful articulation of a few simple and cleverly executed moves, this project achieves a beautiful melding of private and public spaces without compromising either. The exquisite detailing both inside and out, masterfully employs a reduced palette of materials that create a coherent sense of space.’
Hill House Construction Begins
Construction and site work has begun on the Hill House. Perched at the top of Tualatin Mountains outside of Portland, this house boasts an inspiring site with staggering panoramic views.

A true passion for our Studio, the client, contractor, and everyone involved, this project stands as a beautiful example of the values we hold dear—community, stewardship and dedication.
