Situated amongst a pine and juniper forest, Skyline Ranch House creates a striking silhouette against the landscape of Central Oregon’s high desert. Curving site walls organize the precinct of the house, tying together the domestic spaces and detached creative studio while scaling the large five acre site. Taking inspiration from the ecology of the region, the skin of the house splits open to the sky allowing for optimal daylighting throughout the public spaces. A series of outdoor terraces are composed to take advantage of various site spaces and uses. The site walls capture a domestic landscape as the site bleeds back to the wild forests beyond.
